I'm going green for St. Patty's Day. Actually, I enjoy the color green any time of year especially when it comes to home decor. Or my wedding that incorporated the colors of green and white. Any MSU fans out there?!
Let me get back on track. My goal this St. Patty's day was not to go green by wearing a green Kiss Me I'm Irish shirt because I am not Irish, and I didn't drink green dyed beers until my lips changed color. This year I went green by saving some green. Money, money, money! I am going to #MarchIntoSavings.
Now I want to remind you all that we are moving from Indiana to Maryland in just a few short weeks and if you were wondering, Maryland is expensive. Just to give you some perspective - Indiana's cost of living out of 100 is 86 and Maryland's cost of living out of 100 is 116. YIKES! So we need to cut costs in more ways than one.
I have been brainstorming up ways to save costs - save some green and #MarchIntoSavings in more ways than one. We are going to try and cancel our major cable and downgrade. We are also going to cut back on eating out. But moving to a new area means we are going to want to try all.the.food. Coastal town = seafood! Another alternative to cutting costs is to get rid of our major cell service. Are you following along? Let me break these savings down a little further.
Lastly, our cell service is crazy to me. We pay $135/ month for two lines, unlimited talk and text, and 1 GB shared data - that's roughly $67 per person/ month. Did you know that you could get Walmart Family Mobile for much less? Intrigued? It is $29.88/month (for the first line) Unlimited Talk, Text & Data service plan which includes up to 500MB (then speeds slow) of 4G LTE data. This totals out to just over $37 per person / month for A and I.
How do you plan to #MarchIntoSavings this month? Any tips to cut monthly costs?
